I have a strong belief in the idea that observation is the strongest learning tool we can hone. I began my professional life in a career of behavioral and molecular biology. Biology allowed me to find a certain peace solving problems and spending most of my days drawing conclusions from my observations. However, there was a huge gap in my creative soul that needed its own outlet. UX was the missing piece for me: the holistic solution for me to find long-lasting happiness in my career.
My background has leveraged me into the world of crafting delightful experiences for the end user. I worked for many years as a barista ensuring that my customers had their needs met and creating an atmosphere that was clean & inspiring. This led me to an assistant manager position before I left to tackle some mosquito problems for Intellectual Ventures Laboratory. While at IV, I worked diligently as a research associate to help inform research decisions based on problem landscaping and contribute to design meetings on keeping technology restraints in check for the ultimate end-user (often in low-resource settings where access to technology is foreign & rare). Aside from that, I was the resident bug girl and always willing to work on the odd duck experiments (like making many things glow for demonstrations and testing out tesla coils).
Outside of work, I take the time to seek the uniqueness in every day life. I consider myself a story, fact and oddities collector always making time to listen intently to the histories behind people and items with a special affinity towards silly & curious things. I love chatting one-on-one over delicious food and drinks and exploring tucked away corners of the cities and the outdoors.
